The pea is most commonly the small spherical seed or the seed-pod of the pod fruit Pisum sativum. The wild pea is restricted to the Mediterranean basin and the Near East. The earliest archaeological finds of peas date from the late Neolithic era of current Greece, Syria, Turkey, Israel, Iraq, and Jordan.

Common Vegetables

In everyday usage, a vegetable is any part of a plant that humans consume as part of a savory meal.

The term "vegetable" is somewhat arbitrary and largely defined through culinary and cultural tradition. It normally excludes other food derived from fruits, nuts, and cereal grains, including seeds such as pulses.
